Dimara Creations has recently launched its 2008 jewellery collection. Evolution is the main theme that has inspired our designers to create the four stunning and vibrant series that make up this collection. The collection plays on four precious female gifts that have accompanied mankind throughout its evolution. The first series opens the collection with the bold green and blue colours of the animal kingdom. Animalia celebrates the fierce and vivacious beauty of women who are in touch with nature and are not afraid to show their strength and passion, characteristics which have often been suppressed in that which is feminine. Yatiri, the second series, takes its inspiration from the nurturing and healing gifts of women. The Yatiri were medical practitioners and community healers of the Aymara tribes of Bolivia, Chile and Peru. The series reflects the harmony that is so important in healing. It balances the use of powerful gemstones with a soft palette of neutral tones. The third series looks for inspiration to the Greek muse Thalia. In art, women have often been muses, and the source of inspiration for many celebrated songs, paintings and poetry. The series represents this fountain of creativity through a play of delicate reflections using crystals, fluid designs and pale colours. These three themes evolve into the fourth and last series of this collection – Gynoid. Gynoid is the female counterpart of the futuristic male robot, the Android. This series is intended to provoke reflection on the position of women in today’s society, as intelligent fully functional members of modern society. Black, the principle colour in this series, is highlighted with discrete splashes of lilac, purple, silver and pale yellow. The series is intended to reflect on the essential contribution of women in our society, but it is also a reminder to all women never to relinquish those precious gifts that make us who we are.
